May 17, 2011 · When I make a Wifi call from outside the U.S. to the U.S. the call is free, but in the detailed call log of my bill, the call shows it as "roaming" and includes the country where the WiFi call originated. So despite T-Mobile not charging for calls back to the U.S. they know that a given WiFi call originated from outside the country.
When placing a WiFi call it’s just like placing a regular call, without logging in or using an app. Your carrier and phone will determine if you can call through WiFi or not.
